Bereavement Announcement Chief Matthew Negedly

It is with deepest regret and great sorrow that IAFF Local 1365 - Orlando, FL reports the passing of District Chief Matthew Negedly. Brother Negedly passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016.

Chief Negedly is survived by his wife Jill and two children, Luke and Brooke, his father and mother, George and Irene and brothers Billy, Robert and Steven.

Chief Matthew Negedly was a 17 year member of the Orlando Fire Department. He was hired in 1999 after previously serving in the Altamonte Springs Fire Department. He was a former Executive Board Member of Local 1365, a member of the Orlando Fire Department Pipes and Drums, and a founder of the Orlando Fire Conference. He was also a developer and lead instructor for the Orlando Fire Department Officer Development Program.

Chief Negedly had a passion and zeal for the fire service, surpassed by few.  Chief Negedly shared his knowledge and experience with all that he came in contact. In addition to his leadership at OFD, he taught at fire conferences throughout the country. His passion, dedication, and exuberance will be sorely missed. Chief Negedly was an ardent educator and advocated learning from every event. We hope to honor him by continuing his legacy of education and training.

The Orlando Firefighters Benevolent Association is accepting donations for the family to assist with expenses.  The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Benevolent Fund established below.

Pension Seminar Held at Primrose

We have uploaded the 2014 Pension Seminar videos on the website for members to watch who did not have an opportunity to attend this educational forum.  The videos can be found in the "Members" section under "Member Benefits".  You will have to log in to the website in order to have access to these videos.

If you have problems signing in to the website please feel free to contact Felix Benitez 407-448-6060 to resolve the problem.

Today was the last day of our own Pension Seminar for our members.  The seminars were developed by your Pension Trustees and delivered by them and other representatives from Nationwide and other investment companies.  There were also some sections covered by the Pension Coordinator from the City.

All of the feedback we have received about these two seminars has been very positive and long overdue.  We ae in the process of obtaining the video copy of today's meeting and will be posting that soon on our site so you may view it as a refresher or if you did not have an opportunity to attend one of the meeting you will still be able to watch the seminar.
